have resulted in the Trustees agreeing to give up a
width of about 5 feet 6 inches for the whole length of
heir frontage for the purpose of widening the road
for the sum of 4s. per foot, this being the rate at
which they acquired the whole site. The total amount
will be about £437.
An application has been made to the London County
Council, asking them to contribute a moiety of the cost
of acquiring the land, and they have agreed to contribute
half the cost, not to exceed £215.
When this land is acquired, it will enable the Vestry
to reconstruct the roadway, so as to admit of a double
line of vehicles through, from Barnet Grove to Ropley
street and Hackney Road; and the widened portion,
last of Ropley Street toward Hackney Road, will be of
reat value, as the present road is very narrow and the
foot traffic large, and will be materially increased as soon
as the new buildings are occupied.
I have the honour to be, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
F. W. BARRATT,
Surveyor to the Vestry.
