take action under the Nuisances Removal Acts; and steps wore
taken to got some of the worst houses in the parish closed, as
unfit for habitation.
Tho following is a list of tho property so dealt with:—
Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Devonshire Place ; Nos. 31, and
32, Old Nichol Street; Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12,
and 13, Simpson's Place; No. 11, Reuben Street. — These premises
were closed by order of the Magistrate, and still remain uninhabited.
Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4, Simpson's Place (North side); Nos. 1, 2, 3,
and 4, Collingwood Place.—Notice to close was served upon the
owners, but as the premises wero shut up before the hearing, tho
summonses were withdrawn.
No. 5, Felix Street; Nos. 2 and 8, Clare Street.—Since
demolished and re-built.
Nos. 1, and 2, Orange Court; Nos. 54 and 55, Old Nichol
Street.—Demolished.
Nos. 30, and 52, Church Street.—Demolished and since rebuilt.
Nos. 8, and 10, Lansdell Place.—These houses wero repaired by
the owner, but not to tho satisfaction of the Sanitary Committee.
They are still closod.
Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Bodford Row; Nos. 7, 9, 11,
13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 49, 51, 83, 85, 87, 89, 91,
93, 95, 97, and 99, Derbyshire Street; Nos. 4, and 5, Thomas
Passage; Nos. 1, and 3, Granby Row; Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,
9, 24, 25, and 26, Granby Row.—All these houses have been
demolished, and are in process of reconstruction.
Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, Busby Square; Nos. 2, 4, 6, 8, and
10, Busby Street.—These houses are in process of reconstruction
by the owner.
Notioes Wore served upon the owners of these premises to close;
the order was obeyed. As noted above, the premises were in many
instances demolished, and are now being rebuilt.
Nos. 17, and 18, Glo'ster Gardens; No. 1, Parliament Court;
No. 4, Thomas Street; Nos. 62, and 64, Sale Street; No. 1, Archer
