MEASLES.
(Decennial average, 102.0).
Measles caused 73 deaths, out of which all, except three, were
those of young children.
DIETETIC DISEASES.
ALCOHOLISM.
Twelve deaths were recorded under this head. In three the
immediate cause of death was Delirium Tremens. Most of the
cases were the subject of enquiry by the Coroner.
The following is a list of cases in which the fatal termination of
the illness was, in the opinion, either of the Coroner's Jury, or of
the Medical Attendant, accelerated by drink:-

Male 54 Cirrhosis of Liver.
Male 47 Cardiac Disease.
Female 32 Failure of Heart and Bronchitis.
Female 33 bEffusion of Blood on Brain.
Female 37 Syncope.
Female 38 Syncope.
Female 39 Syncope.
Male 47 Syncope.
PRIVATION.
Three infants were certified to have died from want of breastmilk,
but, many of the deaths recorded under the heads of Convulsions
and Dentition, are really due to deprivation of nature's-food, and to
the substitution of indigestible compounds for it.
A male, aged 25 years, died from Congestion of the Lungs,
accelerated by exposure to cold.
A woman, aged 46, died from heart disease, accelerated by want
of proper care and attention.
