"PARISH OF ST. PANCRAS.
"Vestry Hall, St. Pancras,
" 9 th December, IS82.
" To the Vestry:
"Gentlemen,—I have the honour to report that, pursuant to the
instructions of the Vestry, I sent to each of the Vestries and District Boards
of the Metropolis a copy of the report of the Medical Officer of Health, dated
5th July last, calling attention to the unsatisfactory state of the law relating
to bakehouses, ' with a view to ascertaining, in the first instance, how far
the present position of legislation concerning bakehouses is considered
satisfactory by them, and afterwards for adopting the course which then
seems best.'
" In most cases the subject was considered of such importance that the
communication was referred by the Vestries and District Hoards to
Committees, and copies of reports of Committees and of the Medical Officers
Health of several districts have been received.
"In other cases the communication was simply acknowledged, and in
others the subject is still under consideration.
" On the other side I forward an epitome of the opinions expressed in the
replies received other than those which are simply acknowledgments.
" I have the honour to be, Gentlemen,
" Your obedient servant,
" Thos. Eccleston Gibb,
" Vestry Clerk."
