MISCELLANEOUS.
The Vestry presented a petition to the House of Commons against
the clause inserted by the House of Lords in the London Riverside
Fish Market Bill, providing for compensation being made to the City
of London, for diminution of tolls and dues, and providing for transfer
to the City of all the powers conferred by the intended Bill, within
six months after the passing of this Bill at the option of the City.
Three claims have been made for compensation in respect of
injuries alleged to have arisen from the state of the paving. In
every case the Vestry refused the application.
In April the afternoon lecturer of the parish resigned his office.
No successor has been appointed.
The Yestry has lost by death, during the year, three of its
members, viz : Mr. William Davis Collins, Mr, William Dyer, and
Mr. George Samuel Webb. Mr. Collins and Mr. Dyer had been
members of the Vestry from its creation, and Mr. Webb had been
a member for many years.
A new urinal has been erected at the east end of Bethnal
green road. It was proposed to use the old urinal at the junction of
St. James's and Old Ford roads, but it was found to be unfit.
ROBERT VOSS,
