IMPROVEMENTS.
It became unnecessary for the Works Committee to consider and
report on the letter (mentioned in the last report) with reference to
tho Vestry putting in force their powers for acquiring the house in
Club-row, at the eastern end of Little York-street, as after that letter
the Metropolitan Board of Works proposed to defray the expenses of
and incident to the Vestry acquiring the house. But it was found
impracticable to carry the proposal into effect, and tho matter remains
at present under tho consideration of the Metropolitan Board.
With reference to the proposed opening of Hollybush-gardens at
the north end so as to make the gardens a thoroughfare, it has been
arranged to pay £199 19s. for tho freehold and £20 for the leasehold
interest in so much of the ground as is necessary to form the
opening, on condition that the Vestry erect fences and make good the
structures interfered with, and that the permission of the Metropolitan
Board to erect buildings up to the line of either side of the opening be
obtained. The necessary application to that Board to give the requisite
sanction and to contribute a moiety of the purchase-money will be
made.
An arrangement has been made with the Trustees of the late Mr.
Remington Mills (subject to the approval of the Chancery Division)

Blythe-street and Mansford-street, and for a similar improvement at
the south end of Blythe-street and in the part of Bethnal Green-road
immediately east of Blythe-street.
The Vestry, after offering to the late owners the strip of surplus
ground in Old Bethnal Green-road remaining after completing the
improvement at the junction of Old Bethnal Green-road and Georgestreet,
have sold the strip of ground to Mr. Geary, the adjoining
owner, for £105.

tho road has been repaired and maintained by the Vestry. When the
road was so taken to by the Vestry the neighbourhood had not been
