The repairs to footways and carriageways caused by the erection of
scaffolding and construction of private drains have been done by men
in the employ of the Vestry. In consequence of the strike among the
contractor's men, repairs to the various trenches opened by East
London Water Company and Commercial Gas Company have also
been done by men in the employ of the Vestry.
