SURVEYOR'S REPORT
OF WORKS EXECUTED,
FOR THE YEAR ENDING LADY-DAY, 1875.
Gentlemen,
As will be found from the statements of works executed, the
greatest portion has been carried out by men in the employ of the Vestry,
and these works, especially those relating to sowers, have been considerable,
and I fear will much increase. In previous reports I have drawn
attention to the condition of the smaller sewers, and it is now found
necessary to increase the number of men' for the work of opening and
cleansing. During the year 344 loads of sewer deposit have been cleared
from sewers and carted away. This is caused principally by the silt from
off the roads, which is either washed or swept into the gullies. I have
had to draw your attention to Contractors sweeping mud into the
gullies, and who have been fined when detected in so doing.
I enumerate below the principal places where the parish pipe sewers
have been cleansed, and also relaid where found necessary:—
