. Butter OsbornesContained butter fat 8.4%; other edible 7.3%; total fat 15.7%.No action after explanatory letter from manufacturer.
Medium Fat Dutch Processed CheeseConsisted of Full Fat Processed Cheese and contained - Milk Fat 29.0%; Water 44.1%; Fat in the dry matter 51. 9%. According to Regulation 7 of the Cheese Regulations 1970, a Medium Fat Processed Cheese should contain less than 48% of milk fat in the dry matter unless it bears a declaration of the minimum percentage of milk fat.Labelling offence. Shop manager has undertaken to exercise more care in labelling. Further visits to be made from time to time to see that this promise is implemented.
Hot Dog SausagesContained meat, including fat 52.0% (calculated on drained weight). Under the Sausage and Other Meat Product Regulations, 1967, 'frankfurters' are required to have a meat content of not less than 70.0% calculated on the drained weight of the sausage. The Analyst was of the opinion that this standard should apply to HotImported product. Correspondence with importers.
