(Abatement of overcrowding)
SECTION 86 (Duty of medical officers to furnish particulars of overcrowding).
As a result of the movement in population over the last few years, the
Department s Register of overcrowding on the standard laid down by Part IV of
the Housing Act, 1957 no longer gives a true picture of the extent of statutory
overcrowding in the Borough, and following the coming into operation of the
1961 Housing Act, the attention has been directed to those houses in multiple
occupation where there is overcrowding on an amenity basis. Particulars of
the action taken under this latter Act are given on page 20.
