As in former years cases were accepted for treatment from neighbouring authorities and in all, twenty-two cases were dealt with on behalf of the following eight authorities'-

The following is a summary of disinfection and disinfestation work carried
out during the year at the Station and elsewhere:-
(a) After the occurrence of infectious and contagious disease:
Rooms disinfected 483
Bedding and clothing disinfected 20 415 articles
Public Library (including routine disinfection) and
other books disinfected 9097
(b) For the destruction of vermin:-
Rooms disinfested 958
(c) Bombed sites cleared (material burned and buried on
site) 16 occasions
Material removed from bombed sites 6 bins and
2 van loads
Articles removed from bombed sites 17
(d) Materials removed from private houses 495 bins and
204 van loads
3,543 articles
(e) Miscellaneous;
Wasps destroyed 32 nests
Bees destroyed 4 swarms
LAUNDRY, The main function of this section is the laundering of soiled
articles of bedding, clothing, etc. of incontinent persons. In addition it
provides for the laundering of certain articles of clothing following disin
fection,. as well as for towels, overalls etc. in use at the Station.
For the disinfection of secondhand clothing prior to export private firms
paid a sum of £129 10s. In addition charges for removal and destruction
of unwanted articles from various premises and sites totalled £600 10s. 2d,
