Very close co-operation was again maintained with officers of the health
and welfare departments of the County Council. As a result of this co-operation,
little time was lost in finding accommodation for aged people in the
County Council's homes and for aged sick in hospital beds. The Hackney
Association for the Welfare of Old People was at all times ready to co-operate
with the Department, and we are most grateful to the officers and members of
that Association for their continued help.
HEALTH EDUCATION
Health Education propaganda during the year included the following
activities:-
(a) Exhibition of posters and distributions of leaflets on various health
matters.
(b) Displays on current health topics in the showcases at the Hillman
Street Entrance to the Town Hall
(c) Talks to various organisations.
The Department co-operated fully with the staff of Division 4, London
County Council, in giving the maximum publicity possible to the campaigns
for vaccination against poliomyelitis, and immunisation against diphtheria.
