4
year three vans were operating each capable of carrying 50 complete meals.
The number of meals served by the department was 31.171,
The turnover in staff during the year within the department was small
whilst the department was geared to current legislation., there was a great deal
of work done to prepare the Department for the reorganisation of London
government.
As in previous years, the department has had the benefit of the
co operation of the Chief Officers and staff of the other Council departments,
and also assistance from the Divisional Medical Officer and staff of Division
4 of the London County Council. We have also had assistance from the general
practitioners in the borough and staffs of various hospitals and voluntary
organisations and I would take this opportunity of thanking them for this
service.
Finally I would wish to express on behalf of the department thanks to
the Chairman and Members of the Public Health Committee, and Members of the
Council as a whole for their help and encouragement throughout the year.
I am, Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen
Your obedient Servant,
ROWLAND GWYN DAVIES
Medical Officer of Health.
