"Pasteurised" milk is required to comply with the Phosphatase Test for adequate
heat treatment, and with the Methylene Blue Test for bacterial cleanliness.
"Sterilised" milk is required to comply with the prescribed turbidity test.
The Public Health Laboratory Service reported that the following samples
satisfied the required tests:-

The following sample was reported as unsatisfactory:-

Subsequent sample satisfied the Phosphatase Test.
The Methylene Blue Test on the following samples was reported as being void:-

THE SALE OP MILK REGULATIONS, 1939, These Regulations require milk to contain
not less than 3% milk fat, and 8 5% milk solids other than milk fat. Some 13
formal and 84 informal samples were submitted to the Council's Public Analyst
and all complied with the Regulations, the average content of these samples
was 3,53 per cent milk fat and 8,68 per cent milk solids other than milk fat.
The Milk and Dairies (Preservatives) Regulations, 1962 were made jointly
by the Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Food and the Minister of Health,
and prohibit the addition of any preservative to milk and the sale of milk to
which such an addition has been made.
The Milk and Dairies (Emulsifiers and Stabilisers) Regulations, 1962 made
jointly by the Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Food and the Minister of
Health prohibit the addition of any emulsifier or stabiliser to milk and the
sale of any milk to which such an addition has been made.
The Milk and Dairies (Legal Proceedings) Regulations, 1962. These
regulations were made by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and
the Minister of Health jointly under sections 29 and 123 of the Food and Drugs
Act, 1955. They amend the Milk and Dairies (Channel Islands and South Devon)
Milk Regulations, 1956 and the Milk and Dairies (General) Regulations 1959 by
applying specifically certain sections of the Food and Drugs Act, 1955.
relating to legal proceedings.
SECTION 91 (Powers of sampling) and SECTION 92 (Right to have samples
analysed). An authorised officer of a Council is empowered to procure samples
for analysis or for bacteriological or other examination if he considers such
samples should be analysed, he shall submit them for analysis by the Public
Analyst for the area in which the samples are procured.
