SHOPS ACT, 1950
SECTION 38 (Sanitary and other arrangements in shops). This section
requires the provision and maintenance of -
(a) suitable and sufficient means of ventilation;
(b) reasonable temperature;
(c) suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences;
(d) suitable and sufficient means of lighting;
(e) suitable and sufficient washing facilities;
(f) suitable and sufficient facilities for the taking of meals.
No contraventions were discovered during the course of the 195 inspections
made by the Public Health Inspectors.
Exemption certificates relating to sanitary accommodation continued in
operation in respect of ten premises.
OFFICES ACT. 1960
Although this legislation was due to come into force on the 1st January,
1962 the Secretary of State had not at the end of the year made the Regulations
necessary to give effect to the Act, nor had the Minister of Labour introduced
the Bill relating to health, welfare and safety in shops, offices and railway
premises which was expected to replace the Offices Act.
FACTORIES ACT. 1961
This Act, which received the Royal Assent on the 22nd June, 1961, and
comes into operation on the 1st April. 1962, consolidates the Factories Acts,
1937 to 1959 which it repeals
