SECTION 44 (Power of Borough Council to construct or alter drains by agreement).
Under the provisions of this section, as amended by Section 30 of the London
County Council (General Powers) Act, 1958, the drainage staff of the Department,
at the request of and expense of the owners concerned, carried out works of
repair to drains at 280 premises details of these works are set out on pages
4 to 6 of the Appendix.
SECTION 82 (Nuisances which may be dealt with summarily). Following investigation
of nuisances, 1,325 intimation notices and 1,260 nuisance (Statutory)
notices were served. Applications for Nuisance Orders were made in 140 cases,
and in addition proceedings were taken in seven cases of non-compliance with
Nuisance Orders.
Work in Default. In pursuance of their default powers the Council carried out
the work necessary to comply with a Nuisance Order made in respect of 19,
St. Philip's Road at a cost of £235 19s. Od.
The under mentioned premises which were the subject of Closing Orders made
under this section have been demolished:-
3, Anderson Road - (Whole house)
65, Felstead Street - (Ground floor back room).
SECTION 84 (Paving of yards and open spaces in connection with dwelling houses).
Bylaws made by the Borough Council under this section require the owner of
every dwelling house in connection with which there is a yard or open space,
where it is necessary for the prevention of the remedying of insanitary conditions,
to cause such yard or open space to be paved and the paving to be kept
in proper repair, Notices requiring compliance with these bylaws were
served on the owners of five premises.
SECTION 87 (Removal and Disposal of refuse) - This service is the responsibility
of the Borough Engineer and Surveyor who has furnished the following information:-
