Infant mortality. There were 50 deaths of children under one year, giving
an infant mortality rate of 15.43 per thousand live births, as compared with
a rate of 21.6 for the County of London and 21.9 for England and Wales.
The rate for England and Wales is the lowest ever recorded, being 0.3 per
1,000 below that for 1959, the previous lowest.
