Infant mortality. There were 65 deaths of children under one year, giving
an infant mortality rate of 20.61 per thousand live births, as compared with
a rate of 22. 3 for the County of London and 22. 2 for England and Wales The
rate for England and Wales is the lowest ever recorded, being 0.4 per 1,000
below that for 1958, the previous lowest.
Comparable infant mortality figures for Hackney, London, and England and
Wales for the last five years:-
