SECTION 27 (Ambulance Service). The two ambulance stations in the
borough are sited at Homerton Grove, E. 9. and Paragon Road, E. 9.
SECTION 28 (Prevention of illness, care and after-care). The Borough
Council has three representatives on the Hackney and Bethnal Green
Tuberculosis Care Committee, and three representatives on the Hackney
and Stoke Newington Tuberculosis Care Committee: the Medical Officer of
Health is also a member of both these Committees. The part played by
these after-care organisations continues to be of paramount importance
in the campaign against tuberculosis.
SECTION 29 (Domestic help). This essential service, which is complementary
to the various medical services, is of inestimable value in many
cases of acute and chronic illness. The cases dealt with during the
year were as follows:-

Other services provided by the County Council. In its capacity as local
health authority, the County Council also provides health visiting
(SECTION 24) and domiciliary midwifery (SECTION 23) services. As
local education authority, the County Council is responsible for the
provision of a comprehensive school health service which includes
facilities for the treatment of minor ailments in school children at the
following centres:-
