The drainage staff of the Department, at the request and expense of the
owners concerned, carried out minor works of repair to drains at 186 premises.
Details are set out on page 4 of the Appendix.
SECTION 107 (By-laws as to sanitary conveniences etc,) The London County
Council By-laws regulating the construction, alteration, reconstruction and
repair of water closets, urinals, earth closets, privies and cesspools, and the
proper accessories thereof, made under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891,
are continued in force by Section 307 of the Act of 1936. Owners of premises
are required to maintain water closets, etc. in a proper state of repair and in
proper working order, and notice must be given to the sanitary authority before
any work is begun.
Informal notices drawing attention to contraventions of these by laws were
served in respect of 41 premises, and formal notices in respect of 38 Seven
summonses were issued, a penalty and costs being imposed in each case
