The period of service in confinement cases was usually fourteen
days. In other cases the period of service given was as follows:—
Less than one month 54 cases
Between one and two months 35 „
Between two and three months 27 „
Longer than three months 392 „
FOOT CLINIC.
A Clinic for the treatment of foot ailments was opened on 10th
October, 1946, and two chiropodists were employed, in the first
instance for two hours each week. This provision soon proved
inadequate and the length of the session and then the number of
sessions were increased to meet the needs of the public. The Clinic
is held at the maternity and child welfare centre at Richmond Road.

The following table sets out particulars of attendances during 1947:—

The charge made for foot treatment is 2s. per attendance and
this charge is reduced or waived in necessitous cases.
