(4) Whether the work of disinfestation is carried out by the
Local Authority or by a contractor.
With the exception of the disinfestation of the possessions of
127 families transferred from clearance areas to Council flats in
1934, which were treated by hydrogen cyanide by the van method by
a contractor, all disinfestation work in the Borough has been carried
out by the staff of the Public Health Department.

The following is a statement of this work in connection with rehoused families in the past five years:—
