corrected death-rate of 11.7 is secured for comparison with the crude
death-rate of the country or with the similarly adjusted rates of
other areas.

deaths in public institutions in the Borough during 1937. Of these,
650 were residents of other districts, and the remaining 997 were
residents of Hackney.
