demolition of the insanitary properties is summarised and a statement
is included of the progress made in dealing with overcrowding
in the Borough.
My staff have again earned my sincere thanks for the manner
in which they have performed their duties. With the death, in
November, 1937, of Mr. Hitch, Chief Clerk in the Public Health
Department, the Council lost the services of an Officer who had
served them and their predecessors conscientiously for 43 years.
His work in my Department will be remembered with gratitude for
many years to come.
In conclusion, I have to thank the Public Health and Maternity
and Child Welfare Committees for their support and assistance.
I am,
Yours obediently,
G. H. DART,
Medical Officer of Health.
