TUBERCULOSIS.
During the year under review 202 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis
and 47 cases of non-pulmonary tuberculosis were notified
for the first time under the Public Health (Tuberculosis) Regulations,
1930.
Since the introduction of compulsory notification of tuberculosis
in 1912 there has been a fairly steady decline in the number
of cases notified, as is instanced in the following table of the primary
notifications received in each year since 1920. The large drop in
the number of notifications of pulmonarv tuberculosis in 1936 as

compared with the previous year is rather remarkable:—

The attack-rate per 1,000 of the population for all forms of
tuberculosis notified in 1936 was 1.19.
