In addition, there are a large number of itinerant vendors who
hawk food around the streets. The stores of all street traders in
food were inspected before a licence was granted or renewed.
Three hundred and four notices were served for defects or contraventions
of the law relating to food premises.
ADULTERATION OF FOOD.
Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act, 1928.— Samples of food
for chemical analysis are collected by the Sanitary Inspectors who
are appointed to act as Sampling Officers under this Act. Those
samples taken in strict conformity with the requirements of the
Act are described in this report as "formal samples," whilst those
samples which are purchased without disclosing to the vendor the
fact that samples are being taken for analysis are referred to as
" informal samples."
