INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The deaths of 141 children under the age of twelve months were
allocated to Hackney by the Registrar-General during 1935. Deaths
of children in the Salvation Army and Church Homes for unmarried
mothers are included in these figures. There are eight institutions
of this kind in Hackney, and although many of the mothers and
babies who enter the homes have no real connection with the
Borough, every death occurring therein is allocated to Hackney.

The following is a table of the infantile deaths and death rates in England and Wales, London and Hackney in 1935, together with the infantile death rates in five-year periods.
