Infectious Cases of Tuberculosis—Housing Conditions.—During
1935 the Public Health Committee referred to the Housing and
Town Planning Committee a memorandum on the question of the
housing accommodation of persons infected by tuberculosis with a
suggestion that special attention should be paid to the position of
infectious tuberculous persons when large housing schemes were
under consideration.
The following list of cases, which was placed before the Committee,
must be considered an indication of the various types of
conditions that occur in the Borough and must not be regarded as
an exhaustive list.
According to the housing survey standard more than one-third
of the cases in the list cannot be dealt with as overcrowded families
under the Housing Act, 1935. The question of separating the
sexes as well as the tuberculous persons is the great difficulty.
