During the year notices of the occupation of workshops and
complaints of unsatisfactory conditions in such premises were
received from H.M. Inspector of Factories, as follows:—

OUTWORKERS.
The number of outworkers on the register at the end of 1934
was 1,557, as compared with 1,591 at the end of the previous year.
Owing to the long illness of Miss Portlock, the previous
Inspector, the number of inspections does not compare with those
in previous years.
The following analysis shows the trades followed by the outworkers:—
