MATERNAL MORTALITY.
During 1934 there were 5 deaths of Hackney women from
causes directly connected with childbirth. This represents a death.
rate of 1.61 mothers per 1,000 total births.
The actual causes of death were:—
1. Puerperal septicaemia.
2. Septic abortion.
3. Pelvic abscess, miscarriage.
4. Paralytic ileus, pelvic peritonitis, craniotomy, prolonged labour.
5. Retro.placental haemorrhage, albuminuria of pregnancy.
