Cleansing of Persons Act, 1897.
The baths provided by the Borough Council under the above Act,
for the cleansing of verminous persons, were in constant use. The
total number of baths given during the year was 3,908 (222 to adults

number given during 1927.
Of the 3,908 baths given, 841 were sulphur baths for scabies, and
3,067 for pediculi. The great majority of those persons presenting
themselves for baths were children from the elementary schools in
the Borough. The children received 3,686 baths, an increase of 253
upon the number given during 1927.
