The position of Hackney, as compared with the other Metropolitan Borough, is very satisfactory, and has improved since last year, as is shown by the following table, which gives the death rates and infantile mortality rates in the London Boroughs.

The zymotic death-rate is '46 as compared with '49, the figure
for 1925. The number of Scarlet Fever cases notified during 1926
was 758, as compared with 531 in 1925, and the number of
Diphtheria cases notified in 1926 was 655, as compared with 666
during 1925. The deaths from Scarlet Fever numbered only 4, the
same figure as the previous year, and the deaths from Diphtheria 21,
being 9 less than those registered in 1925. The question of
