THE PUBLIC HEALTH (PRESERVATIVES, &c. IN FOOD)
REGULATIONS, 1925 & 1926.
The attention of Manufacturers and Purveyors of Food in the
Borough was called to these Regulations, and the following summary
of some of its provisions and a list of foods which are permitted to
contain amounts of Preservatives was distributed.
Special attention was also drawn to the requirements of the
Regulations as regards labelling of preservatives and articles of food
containing preservative.
January 1st, 1927.
Preservatives in ALL FOODS prohibited except in certain
cases and where standards have been fixed for limited amounts of
Sulphur Dioxide and Benzoic Acid.
July 1st, 1927.
Preservatives Prohibited in
Bacon.
Ham.
Egg Yolk.
Articles of food containing preservatives necessarily
introduced by the use in their preparation of preserved Margarine.
January 1st, 1928.
Preservatives Prohibited in
Butter.
Cream.
Articles of food containing preservatives necessarily
introduced by the use in their preparation of preserved
Bacon.
Cream.
Egg Yolk.
Ham
July 1st, 1928.
