Isolation Shelter.
During the year there were 131 persons admitted to the
Shelter whilst their homes were being disinfected. This total
consisted of 29 men, 36 women and 66 children. The cost of
maintenance of these persons admitted was £9. 6s. 2d.
Cleansing of Persons Act, 1897.
The baths provided by the Borough Council under the above
Act, for the cleansing of verminous persons, were in constant use,
The total number of baths given during the year was 4,061 (143
to adults and 3,918 to children). This total shows a decrease of
590 upon the number given during 1923.
Of the 4,061 baths given, 1,031 were sulphur baths for
scabies, and 3,030 for pediculi. The great majority of those
persons presenting themselves for baths were children from the
elementary schools in the Borough. The children received 3,918
baths, a decrease of 430 upon the number given during 1923.
