Cerebro-spinal Meningitis.— During 1924 there were 8 cases
of this disease notified in the Borough, all were removed to
hospital. Six deaths occurred.
Polio-myelitis.— There were 2 cases of polio-myelitis notified
in the Borough during the year. One death occurred.

Encephalitis Leihargica.— The Public Health (Acute Encephalitis
Lethargica and Acute Polio Encephalitis) Regulations, 1918,
came into operation on 1st January, 1919. During the year 1924
34 cases were notified, 11 being fatal. Twenty-three patients
were removed to hospital.
Influenzal Pneumonia and Pneumonia.— There were 9 cases
of influenzal pneumonia and 34 of primary pneumonia notified.
As provided in the Regulations, where the nursing was found to
be inadequate a nurse was sent from the King's Home for Nurses
in accordance with an arrangement made with the Superintendent
at a fee of Is. 3d. per visit. During the year 51 cases were nursed
