Certainly this is a very accurate description of the state of
affairs in Hackney; although there is considerable evidence, as
already stated, to show that Hackney is far behind some
Boroughs in the development of the service.
Two additional Centres in the region of West Hackney and
South Hackney Wards would be of the utmost value to the
development and usefulness of the service. It is quite impossible
to carry on these Centres on the lines laid down in M. & C. W. 14
of the Ministry of Health, where it is stated that " Not more than
30 or at most 40 children can ordinarily be dealt with at one
session." The attendances at Overbury Street and Northwold
Road are now in the neighbourhood of 100 at each session.
There is no doubt that the congested condition of the Centre
deters many persons in need of assistance and advice from
attending.
The cost to the rates of two additional Centres with one clinic
at each Centre weekly would be £390.
