Whooping Cough.— The deaths from this cause during the
year numbered 16. This is a decrease of 40 upon the number
registered during 1920. Seven of the deaths occurred in children
under five years of age. The mortality for Hackney is equal to
.07 per 1,000 inhabitants, and that for all London, 12 per 1,000
inhabitants.
Information was received from the head masters and head
mistresses of elementary schools in Hackney of 412 cases of
whooping cough occurring among their scholars during the year.
