PUBLIC HEALTH LEGISLATION.
During the year 1912 certain orders, circular letters ana
memoranda bearing upon public health matters were issued to
Local Authorities. The following are the chief of these:—
Orders of the Local Government Board.
1. Metropolitan Asylums (Whooping Cough) Order, 1912.—
This order allows the Asylums Board to admit into their hospitals,
under certain conditions and upon the recommendation of a Medical
Officer of Health of a Metropolitan Borough, a person who is not
a pauper, and is suffering lrom Whooping Cough ; it they have
more accommodation than necessary for pauper patients suffering
from the same disease.
2. Metropolitan Asylums (Puerperal Fever) Order, 1912.—
This Order allows the Asylums Board to admit into their hospitals,
under certain conditions and upon the recommendation of a Medical
Officer of Health of a Metropolitan Borough, a person who is not
a pauper, and is sufrering lrom Puerperal Fever; if they have more
accommodation than necessary lor pauper patients suffering from
the same disease.
3. domiciliary Treatment of Tuberculosis Order, 1912.
Regulations of the Local Government Board.
1. Public Health (Tuberculosis) Regulations, 1912.—These
regulations revoke all tuberculosis regulations previously issued,
substituting in their place other regulations. The chief alteration
in these is to extend notification of tuberculosis to all forms of
the disease.
2. Rag Flock Regulations, 1912.—These regulations fix a
standard of cleanliness to which flock manufactured from rags
shall conform, in accordance with Section 1 (1) of the Rag Flock
Act, 1911. The standard lixed is as follows:—
" Flock shall be deemed to conform to the standard of
cleanliness for the purposes of sub-section (1) of Section 1
of the Act, when the amount of soluble chlorine in the form
of chlorides removed by thorough washing with distilled water
