Girths.—The births registered during the year 1895 were 6,141;
of which 3,191 were males, and 2,947 were females. Compared
with 1894 the total shows an increase of 203 births. Calculated as
a rate per 1,000 living persons, this is equivalent to an annual
birth-rate of 28.4, which is almost identical with that for 1894.
The birth-rate for all London for the year 1895 was 30.4 per
1,000.
The subjoined table shows the number of births and rates
per 1,000 living persons in each sub-district.

Marriages.—The total number of marriages solemnised in
Hackney during the year 1895 was 1,540, which is equivalent to a
marriage rate of 14.2 per 1,000.
