INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
(a) Milk Supply.
All milk produced or brought into this area is good,
clean and wholesome.
The only producer has, on an average, 100 cows.
These are kept on grass-land in the summer, and in good,
clean, well-ventilated sheds in the winter. The piemises
are quite up-to-date. The necessary plant and utensils used
for dealing with the milk is good, clean, and well looked
after. At the premises there is a cold room for the storage
of milk. Every attention is given to the producing and
supplying of good, clean, wholesome milk. I may add that
about 50 per cent, of the milk consumed in this district
is obtained from this producer. The rest of the milk
supplied in this district is nearly all brought into the district
in sealed bottles, ready for delivery to the consumer.
(1) Action taken as to tuberculous milk and tuberculous
cattle :—
The taking of samples, testing of milk, and testing the
cattle is carried out by the County Council. A quarterly
inspection is made by the Local Council's Veterinary
Surgeon for the purpose of detecting any case of tubercular
disease of the udder that may exist.
