Gas and Air Analgesia.
In December 1941 a scheme was introduced for the administration of
Gas and Air Analgesia to women during their confinement. This was made
possible by the generosity of the National Birthday Trust, who supplied one
apparatus free and another at a reduced price. A nodical certificate
must be obtained within one month before the confinement, as to the physical
condition of the mother, and under the C.M.B. rules two nurses must be
present during the administration.
A charge of 5/- is made but it can be given free of charge if the mother
comes within a scale of income adopted by the Committee.
