V. - FOOD INSPECTION
ACTINOBACILLOSIS IN OX TONGUES.- A percentage examination was made
of every consignment of frozen ox tongues arriving in the area of
the Port Health Authority. Careful examination was made by your
Officers of 4099 tongues, and 17 were found affected with
Actinobacillosis, a percentage of 0.41.
ACTION TAKEN UNDER THE PUBLIC HEALTH (IMPORTED FOOD) REGULATIONS,
1937.- resulted in 4,463 tons 14 cwts. 0 qrs. 5 lbs. of unsound
food being destroyed or disposed of for purposes other than human
consumption.

During the year 62 samples were submitted for analysis
of which 14 were found not to conform with the Regulations.
PARROTS (PROHIBITION OF IMPORT) REGULATIONS. 1930
68 parrots, etc., came under the notice of your Officers
during the year. 50 Notices were issued in respect of 61 parrots
etc.
