Physiological Research Laboratories, who kindly undertook to supply the material
free of charge, and to send one of his assistants, Dr. Parish, to carry out the tests.
The results were as follows :—

(i.e. immune to Diphtheria.)
,, Schick positive 24
(i.e. susceptible to Diphtheria.)

The 24 Schick positive reactors received injections of Diphtheria prophylactic
on 9/12/31, 16/12/31 and 5/1/32.
Re-testing was performed on 1/2/32, results being as follows :—
Originally Schick positive, on re-test negative 23
,, ,, ,, (?) ,, ,, 1
,, ,, ,, ,, positive 1
The Schick positive (?) case was thus immunised by the testing dose without
recourse to prophylactic injections.
The boy who remained Schick positive received further injections of prophylactic.
LEGAL PROCEEDINGS.
It was not necessary to take Legal Proceedings for any infringement under the
various Acts and Regulations administered by the Port Sanitary Authority.

BYE-LAWS—OFFENSIVE CARGOES.

Three cases of infringement of the above-mentioned Bye-laws were reported during the period covered by this Report. Written notice was sent to the owners of the lighters:-

PARROTS (Prohibition of Import) REGULATIONS, 1930.
283 parrots, &c., came under the notice of your Officers during the year.
70 Notices were issued in respect of 93 parrots, &c.
