"The sample was also examined, with negative results, for preservatives (formalin, boric acid, sulphites, &c.), and poisonous metals. In addition, the sample showed no signs of putrefaction, even after being kept for several days at 70° to 80° F., and I am unable, therefore, apart from the unpleasant smell and general appearance of the sample, to take exception to it, or to state that it would be harmful to health.''
