to Mutton imported from South America, it appeared that the standard was not so
satisfactory, and that therefore the examination of 10 per cent. of such carcases on
arrival should be continued.
It was further decided to continue the 100 per cent. examination of pieces of
Mutton whatever the country of origin.
Caseous Lymphadenitis.—Mutton and lamb, weight 43 lbs. and over, from
Australia., New Zealand and South America.
The following carcases were examined by your officers during the year:—

Pig Carcases.—A careful examination was made of a percentage of Pig carcases
arriving in the Port, the number of carcases examined being 5,311. Three carcases
were found to be diseased.
Actinomycosis in Ox Tongues.—A percentage examination was made of every
consignment of Ox tongues arriving in the Port. 241 consignments were put into
Dock store, where a careful examination was made by your officers of 31,968 tongues,
and 286 tongues were found to be affected with Actinomycosis.
