The number of boats not conforming to the Acts and Regulations was 44 (inspected
on 64 occasions, or 46.32 of the total inspections, the percentage for the previous,
five years being 37.06 percent.).
In addition to the above, 5 boats were at the time of visit found with the cabin
door locked, there being no persons on board. Inspection was therefore impossible,
and these visits are not included in the number of the boats inspected.

Overcrowding.

The canal boat "Sarah" was inspected on the 4th August, when the after-cabin
was found to be occupied by three persons in excess of the number for which it is
registered:—
Registered for 2 adults and 3 children.
Occupied by 1 male, 1 female and 6 children.
Written notice was sent to the owner of the boat. The boat has not been met
with since in the Port of London.
