NUISANCES.
A complaint was received on the 2nd March from the Port of London Authority,
supported by reports from the Authority's Police Officer, of a nuisance involving
damage to some foodstuffs by the use of a closet on a vessel lying in the Surrey
Commercial Dock, the closet being cleansed while a barge laden with floor was lying
alongside.
With the question of damage to the flour the Port Sanitary Authority had
naturally nothing to do, but on the question of the use of closets on vessels while lying
in the Docks this is a matter which has the constant attention of your Officers, and is
prohibited when accommodation is available on shore within a convenient distance from
the vessel.
In the present case appropriate action was taken to prevent any recurrence of the
nuisance.
