(4) On June 4th, 1914, Mr. Emanuel Smith, the owner of'the canal boats " Eliza "
and " Sandford," was summoned at Tower Bridge Police Court, for using the said boats
as dwellings, the same being unregistered as canal boats. A fine of 1/. and 22s. costs
was inflicted in each case.
(5) The total number of infringements found was 162 on 73 boats, inspected
on 98 occasions. Formal notice of each infringement was at once given to the owners,
and in many cases they were remedied without further complaint.
The number of written notices was 79, and the number which has been certified
as attended to was 81. This number includes 31 infringements found in 1909, 191
1912 and 1913, and reported remedied in 1914.
Of the complaints issued in the year now under review, 63.29 per cent, were
remedied.
Double Bulkheads.
(6) There were no infringements with regard to the provision of these.
(7) No boats have been detained for cleansing.
(8) On December 31st, 1914, there were 255 boats on the Register :—

(9) Eight boats were registered in 1914. Of these, 3 were new boats.
