The s.s. "Highland Piper," from Argentina, arrived on the 14th March. There
was on board an experimental consignment of " Chilled " offal, comprising : —
2 bags of Ox-tails.
1 bag of Ox-hearts.
2 bags of Ox-tongues.
The whole of the ox-tails and hearts, together with 21 out of 24 of the ox-tongues,
were putrid.
They were seized and destroyed in the usual way, and as the experiment was not a
success, it probably will not be repeated.

The tinned meats seized and destroyed comprised:—

RABBITS (Frozen).
Only five seizures were made during the year. The total quantity being 235 crates,
weighing 6 tons 6 cwts. 3 qrs. 21 lbs.
RABBITS (Tinned).
One seizure was made during the year. This comprised 16 tins, weighing 28 lbs.
These had been rejected by the owners and were seized by the Port Sanitary Authority
to prevent sale to small buyers.
POULTRY AND GAME.
This consisted of one package, weighing 16 lbs.
