The boat has since been met with, but I have received a letter from the owners
stating that the boat is "laid up" and uninhabited. The complaint with regard to
overcrowding is thus remedied.
(f) Separation of Sexes.
The following case was met with:—
The canal boat "Albert," registered Berkhamsted, No. 314, was inspected on the
27th October, when the after cabin was found to be occupied by a man and his wife,
and a female person over the age of 12 years. A complaint was sent to the owners on
the 1st November, and on the 17th December I received information that the
infringement had been duly remedied.
(g) Cleanliness.
The following boats were found to require cleansing, and those on which the
necessary improvement was made are marked * accordingly:—
